Industrial Maintenance Engineering Job Description

Reports to Chief Engineer

Scope

Responsible for the maintenance of all processing equipment and facilities which have been assigned by the Chief Engineer, so as to insure production of the highest quality goods in a clean safe, efficient, and cost effective manner.  Provide technical support for process improvements.  Assist Chief Engineer in the effective utilization of all available resources.

Nature of Duties

Maintain Equipment and Facilities

·             Perform maintenance tasks according to Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules.

·             Repair equipment and facilities as required.

·             Keep records of all maintenance and repairs.

·             Maintain adequate inventory of all critical spare parts.

·             Monitor production equipment during processing to insure the safe and efficient operation of the         process.

Provide Technical Support

·             Maintain good communications with employees of all departments.

·             Implement improvements to equipment, facilities, and process.

·             Stay informed of improvements by O.E.M.

Assist Chief Engineer

·             Keep staff informed of pending repairs and projects.

·             Provide budgetary information as required.

·             Assist in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of projects.

·             Assist in the orientation and training of new employees.  

All Engineers must be able to:

1. Move large objects that can weigh in excess of 100 lbs.
2. Operate forklifts, man lift and electric pallet jack.
3. Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical breakdowns and equipment failure.
4. Enter confined spaces and perform all necessary job functions.
5. Work on equipment higher than 20 feet from the ground.
6. Climb ladders that extend beyond 20 feet.
7. Read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams and schematics.
8. Use various electronic test equipment, shop tools, and all available power tools.
9. Identify and order parts from a large variety of equipment manuals.
10. Work overtime and/or any shift as needed.
11. Perform all job functions in adverse conditions, which include, but are not limited to, adverse lighting, extreme cold, high temperatures, high humidity, high noise levels, and exposure to all weather conditions.
12. Weld steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
13. Communicate in English, using documentation and verbal methods.
14. Use various PCs
15. Perform all job functions in a safe, efficient manner.
16. Complete pre-employment physical, drug screen, hearing test, and written department test.
